Here I was… at regionals

Stampin' Up! holds regional conventions around the country. There are a few of them each year. This weekend there is was one in Kansas City, Kansas (actually, Overland Park, Kansas). I was one of 4 gals that were asked to do a Workshop Wow. Wow, was that fun!! I was to come up with an idea of something I thought would be good to present to the other Stampin' Up! demonstrators that were there. It is supposed to be a project that I think the demonstrators can use at their own workshops when they get home. Well ladies, here I am. I was really nervous, but got over that quickly. I guess I went a little overtime. We are given 5 minutes, I guess I took 9 L. Oops! Just having too much fun!! I was really an honor to be there and work with the Stampin' Up! people. All of them are so awesome. I love working with a company that loves their demonstrators with all of their heart!

Just a little story. Kansas City is about 5 ½ hours from me. My mom was going to go with me. Well, that didn't work out too well. My dad had to have eye surgery (detached retina, 2^nd surgery L in 4 weeks), so I had to go by myself. I talked to Lori from Stampin' Up! the day Dad had surgery. She said, "You know, family comes first. If it doesn't work for you to come – you don't worry – you just call me and tell me." I LOVE her. When I got to Kansas City and saw Lori, the first thing she said was, "How is your dad?" How awesome is that??? How many companies can you work with that tell you your family comes first??

I apologize for being missing in action!! It has been a busy week here without a ton of creative time for blog posting!! I had club on Monday. Tuesday was the rummage. Wednesday was packing up the rummage. Thursday was off to Kansas City, MS for a Stampin' Up! regional convention. Here is the COOL, COOL news!! I was picked by Stampin' Up! to do a workshop wow! What is that you ask? Well, I get to pick my "theme". I show all the other gals there what I think is something that will WOW their customers at their next workshop. Clear as mud? Stay tuned. I PROMISE I will be posting what I created – but you'll have to wait until probably Monday before I can get that done.

World Card Making Day

World Card Making Day is just Around the Corner!  I would like to celebrate this day with you.  The "official" day is Saturday, October 4.  I would like to give you the opportunity to celebrate TWO times!!

Good afternoon Shawna….and all of you!!

How is this for easy??? Why do I say Shawna? Because we are making this card at her party. I say easy, then the girls won't think so. We'll see. I'll let you know tomorrow J.

I used a technique called Poppin' Pastels. You need a VersaMark pad (see ingredients for all of these things and numbers for ordering), Stampin' Pastels, and sponge daubers.

1. Stamp flowers using VersaMark.
2. Dab your sponge dauber in the chocolate chip pastel (chalk).
3. "Pounce" the chalk on to the flowers that were stamped in VersaMark. Like magic, the chalk highlights the flowers. So easy and creates the Wowza effect to your card.

Need a card for any occasion?

This one fits the bill! I love how it turned out. I picked the colors from the kwerner challenge this week.

This card is 5 ¼" square card. I used the Top note die in the Big Shot. I used watercolor paper for the coloring. I hope you like it!!

Same Stamp Set, Same Design, Different Colors

Ever find a look you like and find multiple ways to use it?

I was looking at the little stamps in the Time to Party set. Remember this card from the other day?

These stamps in the set work good for this layout.

Ingredients: All Stampin' Up!

Stamp set: Time to Party

Cardstock: whisper white, regal rose

Patterned paper: rose red, almost amethyst

Ink: Rose red

Extras: square scallop punch, burgundy wide grosgrain ribbon, stampin dimensionals

Stamp a Majig Tutorial

This little gadget seems to scare people. But, he isn't really that scary. I will teach you how to use it twice in one project!

I used this card element on yesterday's card.

Supplies:

Stamp a ma jig

Vellum cardstock

Project (including paper, ink, and stamp)

Square your scrap of vellum in the corner of the stamp a majig as shown. Make sure your vellum scrap is big enough to stamp your image on that you are going to use the stamp a ma jig with.

Ink up the stamp you are going to use. Square the wood block of the stamp on the stamp a ma jig as shown.

Get your piece of cardstock that you would like to stamp on. I suggest sticking this piece of cardstock to your worksurface (scratch paper). Just use a short piece of adhesive – you are doing this so that your piece of cardstock does not move when you are working with the stamp a ma jig and the vellum

Place piece of vellum over the cardstock. Don't center the vellum on the cardstock – center the image that is on the vellum on the cardstock.

Square up the stamp a ma jig to the top left-hand corner of the vellum.

Take the vellum away. Be very careful NOT to move the stamp a ma jig.

Square up the inked stamp in the corner of the stamp a ma jig.

Step 6 – Stamp the image

Follow the same steps to add the sympathy saying.

Square up a piece of vellum in the top corner of your stamp a ma jig.

Ink you your stamp. Square it up in the corner of the vellum and stamp a ma jig as shown.

Lay the vellum piece overtop of the other image. Line up the image, NOT the vellum.

Square up the stamp a ma jig with the vellum.

Take away the vellum. Be very careful NOT to move the stamp a ma jig.

Ink up your stamp. Square it in the top of the stamp a ma jig as shown.

Stamp the image. Take away the stamp a ma jig.

Very Simple Layout

I like to use card layouts that are easy to reproduce. I like layouts that will allow the main image to change size and let the layout stay the same. I am sure there are more of you out there that like that as well.

This is one of those layouts. This layout is very simple to do with a little patterned paper. Something else that works well is if the layout will work and not be cut in half. What I mean by that is the piece of rose red patterned paper and the piece of bashful blue cardstock do not cut the card in half. The measurement on the rose red piece is 4 x 2.5. The measurement on the bashful blue piece is 4 x 2. So, you get a bit of the "thirds" going there. Layouts that are divided in thirds are more pleasing to the eye than layouts divided in half. Maybe some of you knew that and some of you not. I think sometimes we can look at a card and like the colors together, but the layout "just doesn't have it." A lot of times when I have a layout like that, I find there was too much symmetry in the layout. Divide things up. Don't make everything so similar and you will probably like your card better! Well, that is enough advice from this girl for a day.
