Oh, the stress of it all :-)

Elizabeth, a new found customer has put me up to quite the task. She found my little Valentine pouches that I was making. Off to the post office I went with the finished pouches. That was a couple of weeks ago. Her co-workers loved her. What co-worker wouldn't like a little hand-stamped pouch with chocolate in it????

Then, I get an e-mail from Elizabeth. Say, she says, I am getting married. I am giving you the task of figuring out my wedding invites. Oh, boy. What a task. To the post office I go again. I mail her a catalog and a bunch of samples. She comes back with a list of colors she likes (and there were a lot of them). I narrowed it down to a few colors to work with. I knew she liked Baroque Motifs stamp set. I knew she wanted fall-ish colors with a bit of class. And Always Artichoke was on high list of colors. Here is what I came up with. What do you think? I LOVE the layout. It can be so easily changed to ANYONE's colors. Find a "look" you like and it'll take you far.

I think she is really happy with them. I LOVE them. I think I'll get married again…..oh, maybe not. So, if you are going to get married since I am not game to do it again – let me help you with the stress. Together, we can develop a finished product you will be absolutely proud of!!!!

You can use the very vanilla cardstock and the naturals ivory in place of each other.  The difference is that very vanilla is not as thick a cardstock.  I like to use the naturals ivory since the cardstock is a little stronger and that makes the card a little thicker.  The card will stand up better with thicker cardstock.

Just Buzzin’ By…

But, there is no bee in sight. I am no green thumb – so I colored these flowers how I wanted them to be colored – to match paper!! That is what any good stamper would do, right???

When the catalog first came out, I did a paper split. Of course, I kept a pack for myself. I kinda like the 6x6 pieces. Have you ever looked at a piece of 12 x 12 and thought – oh, I can't cut that up for a card. No worries anymore. Just do a paper split.

I am also following a Mojo Monday challenge. That is where the layout of this card has come from.

Isn't that paper just the most gorgeous thing you ever did see? I love it. I like the bright colors. Red is SO in and this paper shows it off beautifully!! The paper was the inspiration for my colors.

To color in the flowers, I stamped them first with Black Stazon. This is a very permanent ink and will not run (of course, I sell it J). Then, I "smooshed" my ink pad together to get ink in the lid. I paint out of the lid of my inkpad onto the flowers using the blender pens.

The little "with love" came from the Yummy set that you can get FREE right now with Sale-a-bration. Spend $50, get it free.

Great, Easy 2 page 12 x 12 layout

I was supposed to head out to be with a group of scrapbookers last night. But, I have strep throat.  I didn't figure the girls wanted that :-).  I sent them the layout this layout we were going to make.  We will make it in March.  No worries! 

This is the layout we will be making. I have a hard time with white space sometimes. I guess in this layout it is pacific point space J. This is an easy layout for a lot of reasons.

Easy because all of you pictures can be different sizes. Easy because you can incorporate a lot of pictures in these two pages. Easy because it can be adopted for a lot of different reasons to scrapbook.

Materials used:

Extras: Big Shot, Scallop oval die, Go Go boots die

Some more Crazy for Cupcakes

This is such a cute set! I would like to use it more, but do you have a way for me to make more time???? Let's see. Stampin' parties, stampin' parties, entering orders, making blog posts, a two year old, two other kids, a husband…..how much more time does a gal have???

A little two year old story for you. He doesn't talk too much. I guess he doesn't need to. We do whatever he wants anyway J. He was sitting on my lap reading books. I asked him, "can you say I Love you Mommy." He looks at me and gives me the sweetest kiss ever. I tell you – actions speak louder than words! I'd have a picture – but it would have to be staged. How to catch that again? It would never be as good as it is in my mind.

Look at those eyes and that smile. Isn't he the sweetest ever??? I love him with everything I have – just like I do my other kids!

 

On to the card!!

I saw a card similar to this at the Sioux Falls regional last fall. I had to recreate it a bit. I think the other one was made with some retired paper. And, I "girled" this one up a bit. Added some new patterned paper and such.

To create a card like this where the front section is smaller than the card, here is what I do:

1. Original cardstock size is 4 ¼ x 11.
2. Fold that in half.
3. Trim of 1 1/2" off of the front section.

The drawback of a card like this – it will not stand. Pretty hard to photograph a card that will not stand.

The scallop circle was created using the Big Shot. No, I cannot live without that guy!

Something I like about this card – it doesn't have to be for a birthday. It can be for anything!!

Ingredients:

Stamp Set: Crazy for Cupcakes 111618 23.95

Cardstock: Rose Red 102544 5.50, cameo coral 100475 5.50, Watercolor Paper 105019 6.95, whisper white 100730 7.50

Ink: Stazon Black 101406 7.95, rose red101778 5.95, cameo coral 103035 5.95, summer sun 10057 5.95, old olive 102277 5.95

Extras: Raspberry tart paper 113975 9.95, Big Shot 113439 99.95, Scallop Die 113469 19.95, stampin' dimensionals 104430 3.95, aquapainter 103954 16.95, photos corner punch 109042 15.95, scallop edge punch 112091 15.95, Crafter's toolkit 104310 39.95

Directions:

1. Cut rose red card (see directions above)
2. Cut scallop circle from the raspberry tart paper. Adhere to rose red card
3. Cut a strip of cameo coral carstock 2 x 4 ¼. Punch the scallop edge using the scallop edge punch. Adhere to rose red card
4. Stamp cupcake using stazon black
5. Using your aquapainter and the ink colors to color in the cupcake. Cut out. Attach to card using dimensionals
6. On a strip of whisper white, stamp sentiment. Punch each of the edges using the photos corner punch (makes great corners – see the tutorial at the end of this post). Attach using dimensionals.
